KYBELLA™ for Double Chin (fat bellow chin)
KYBELLA™ is a prescription injection for adults, and is the first and only FDA-cleared prescription nonsurgical treatment that is used to improve the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat or below the chin or “double chin”, known clinically as submental fat
How does it work?
The active ingredient in KYBELLA™ is deoxycholic acid, a naturally-occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath your chin, KYBELLA™ causes the destruction of fat cells. Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat.
Is KYBELLA right for me?
We can only determine at a free consultation if KYBELLA is right for you. If you’re bothered by submental fullness, or double chin, ask us about this treatment.
How many people have been treated with KYBELLA?
KYBELLA has been the focus of a global clinical development program involving over 20 clinical studies with more than 2,600 patients worldwide, of which over 1,600 have been treated with KYBELLA.
What can I expect during my appointment?
You and your doctor will customize your treatment regimen, including how many treatments you need, based on your desired chin profile. You will receive a series of injections at each treatment session, which are spaced a month or more apart. Many patients experience visible contouring of their chin profile in two to four treatment sessions spaced at least one month apart. Up to 6 treatments may be administered.
Are there any any side effects?
The safety profile of this product is well characterized. The most common side effects are swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness and areas of hardness around the treatment area.
How many treatments will I need?

How long will the results last?
When injected into the fat under your chin, KYBELLA™ causes the destruction of fat cells. Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat. After the aesthetic response is achieved, retreatment is not expected. It also is the only procedure to use ultrasound imaging, which allows us to actually see the layers of tissue we target during the treatment and ensure the energy is deposited precisely to where it will be most effective.
