What is Botox, Daxxify, Dysport, Xeomin, Jeuveau?

These belong to a group of injectable neuromodulators used to prevent the appearance of wrinkles by temporarily blocking nerve impulses that control muscle contraction, primarily on the forehead and around the eyes. These injectables do not treat wrinkles and lines associated with gravity. Either Botox, Daxxify, Dysport, Xeomin, or Jeuveau are recommended based on your preference and our expert experience. We also have specialized treatments for bruxism — we use neurotoxins to treat masseter muscle tension and alleviate clenching and grinding of the jaw and teeth.
Botox
A Botox treatment is an injection to prevent the appearance of wrinkles by temporarily blocking nerve impulses that control muscle contraction. Botox and Dysport make up the Signature Botox procedure on the forehead and around the eyes. Botox under eyes helps refresh that area. Using Botox for headaches is common, and Botox also treats hyperhidrosis, commonly known as excessive sweating.
How does Botox work?
Botox is a neurotoxin that temporarily blocks nerve impulses in the muscles, relaxing the facial muscles and lessening their ability to contract and pull the skin into wrinkles.

Daxxify
DAXXIFY™ is the only frown line treatment powered by a peptide. It’s a formulation unlike anything else. DAXXIFY™ is designed to target the muscles that cause frown lines, relaxing them so that the lines disappear. This procedure is fast-acting and minimally invasive, and it’s been proven to be safe and effective in clinical trials.
How does DAXXIFY™ work?
DAXXIFY™ is the only long-lasting frown line treatment powered by a peptide. Results last on average 6 months and up to 9 months for some.†
All frown line treatments require a special ingredient to stabilize botulinum toxin A, the protein responsible for helping smooth moderate to severe frown lines. For instance, BOTOX® Cosmetic uses human serum albumin (HSA), a blood product, as its stabilizer. Dysport®, another frown line treatment, uses HSA as a stabilizer and cow’s milk protein as a protectant.
DAXXIFY™ is unique because it is the only formulation that uses a novel peptide as a stabilizer and does not contain human or animal byproducts.
†At least 50% of patients in clinical studies had no or minor frown lines 6 months after treatment. Between 3% and 5% of patients in clinical studies had no or minor frown lines 9 months after treatment. In other safety studies, between 5% and 17% of patients still had noticeable improvement 9 months later.

Dysport
Dysport injections prevent the appearance of wrinkles by temporarily blocking nerve impulses that control muscle contraction. There are only slight differences between Dysport and Botox; notably, a Dysport treatment is more diluted than Botox — more product is needed to achieve the same result. Botox and Dysport are usually used together for the Signature Botox procedure on the forehead and around the eyes.

Xeomin
A Xeomin treatment works similar to Botox to relax muscles, limit movements, and prevent lines and wrinkles from forming. Patients who find Botox and Dysport do not work for them may want to try Xeomin. Xeomin has no additives in the purified protein, which leaves less risk of developing antibodies that can reject it from the body and leave no effect.
How does Xeomin work?
Xeomin is a neurotoxin that temporarily blocks nerve impulses in the muscles, relaxing the facial muscles and lessening their ability to contract and pull the skin into wrinkles.

Jeuveau
Jeuveau is a neurotoxin by Evolus, similar to Botox. It relaxes muscles, limits movements, and prevents lines and wrinkles from forming. Jeuveau treatment is the latest to receive FDA approval in February 2019. Unlike the other three injectables, Jeuveau is only approved for aesthetic/cosmetic use and cannot be used to treat medical conditions such as migraines and hyperhidrosis.

Jeuveau is FDA cleared to treat aesthetic conditions by temporarily blocking nerve impulses that control muscle contraction, lessening the appearance of wrinkles.
